Just curious.  I'm a double of sorts.  Active in the USAF.  Army Reserve and Army Guard.

(Multiple votes allowed because of people like me.)

Aw crap!  I forgot to add the Air Guard.  Did some time at McGhee-Tyson in the TN Air Guard in the late '70's and early '80's.

I got RIF'd in '79 because of Carter's cutbacks.  Did almost 5 years before the axe fell.  I would have gladly served until forced to retire.

I had the ultimate cake hob.  USAF Band.

After active USAF duty, I filled slots in both the Army Guard and Reserve, first as a bandsman, then as a tanker.  Chasing slots to fit my rank, dontchaknow.

Got there a few times to see how the poor kids lived.  I'll take Luke AFB any day.  It's just a hot - but civilized.  Had one guy in our unit who screwed up and wore high gloss corfams (authorized for bandsmen at the time) at a mil parade n July.  Never did again.  He ended up in the hospital because of the burns.  He came to work for the next month in shower sandals.

Never underestimate the desert sun.
