Stonecutter;
Greatings, I am Adrian David Cramton, (I go by David) and a new member of the Grand Chapter, Widow Sons, of Alberta, (as of Oct 2008) and I am asking for membership access to the tyled form.  I am a PM of Excelsion Lodge no 80 in Daysland Alberta, and currently a member of Strathcona Lodge no 77 in Edmonton Alberta, both under the Grand Lodge of Alberta.  I have enjoyed reading, and making a few posts in the public area, and now seek further light.

WayfarerRon, thanx for the upgrade, I have a lot of catch-up reading to do!
Martin, Yah, Loud Gears Save Lives (as opposed to Loud Pipes)is all about the Noise!  Shifting one of these Urals is very different.  (Finding neutral when you want to can be a real challenge, unless you use the reverse gear shifter lever behind the rear brake lever at the same time as the heel toe shifter!) They take a little finess to get into the gear you want, hitting a false neutral is easy to do when you are moving, and frequently shifting can sound more like all the gears are loose in a wooden crate that just fell off the counter to the floor of the garage!Censored.  When the bike is new you have to break in the engine, and the transmition!  I took my Dad (a PM)out for a ride in the tub, before the ride I told him it's more like a John Deere tractor, than a car.  After the ride he pointed out that the even an old JD tractor shifts smoother, and quieter!  I spend a little time on another form where Ural, and the out of production Ukaranian version are discussed, and new riders to Ural frequently comment that they heard they were ruff (loud) to shift when new, but they didn't think it would be THAT bad!! LOL.

Stonecutter,

Thanks all is working now.
I got on today and booked a room in Gilbertsville, for the GC. Sure do plan on having fun down there. Throw a whole bunch of Freemasons in a town and let them exchange ideas and have fun, could become addictive. Oh yeah did I forget to mention I get to bring my bike too. Next thing you'll tell me we get to sit down and grade the quality of refreshments from your fine country. Yup could be addictive.

Thanks again,

My name is John Inch, SD, The Tyrian Youth Lodge #45, GRNS, (Nova Scotia).  I haven't been able to access anything but this section and I asume this is predicated by the problem you mentioned.  I am not affiliated with a Chapter as of yet, (the are currently none in my parrt of Canada --- I'll have to look into that), but I would like to gain access to the "Members Only" to partake in some of the discussions.  Also, I HAVE TO order some parches  (^_^)

Unfortunately, not enough of our good material makes it to the public area. We just got a new chapter started in New Brunswick and the one in Saskatchewan is due to become official if it hasn't already done so. If you can round up 4-5 more brothers with an interest, we can get you hooked up as a chapter relatively quickly. We'd like nothing more than to let you into the Inner Sanctum of our forums.

P.S....... Yo Painter Bob, I didn't get whut you said either. Might be time to open the window and let some of them fumes out.

Do I read correctly?  I'd have to form a Chapter, or be part of a Chapter to gain access to the Inner Sanctum?

You have to be a Widows Son in good standing to gain access to the members only section. Sorry but that is the rules.

Thanks for the reply --- if those are the rules then those are the rules.  No problem here.

If being "in good standing" means belonging to a Chapter, that might take a while; unfortunately.  Between the demands of my business and other commitments, forming a Chapter just isn't within the length of my Cable Tow . . .

Thanks anyway and enjoy the road . . .

Yup. This topic is like 9 pages long so we have to restate it every so often. We have a large tiled section of the site intended for members only. Every Mason can understand that just as we go through the degrees, our level of fraternal access increases. In this case, you're given the Pass once we know which chapter you belong to.

We wish we could let in any MM in good standing, but it was decided a year or so ago that there are just too many prying eyes who come to this site and we feel it's in the best interests of the Association to not let every conversation be open to the public and anonymous visitor. It's not that we have anything to hide, but the tiled environment allows us to joke around and speak without worrying about what we discuss. It's mostly a lot of great fellowship and planning of events and so on.
It's just my opinion, but being a member of the WS enriches your Masonic experience, and these forums supplement your experience as a Widows Son. We have members from around the globe building friendships, sharing experiences and ideas, or just shooting the breeze with each other.

But keep in mind...... sections of our forums might be restricted to members only, but any Mason or person interested in Freemasonry is welcome to attend any of our rides & events.
If there isn't a chapter in your area, we're more than willing to help in any way we can to help interested brethren get one started.

We also have a photo gallery that shows some of our members and the fellowship that we enjoy.... http://widowssons.net/photos/

Sorry Thunder, I understand your delima. The "in good standing" isn't the important part in the statement, it's being a Widows Son. We guard the West Gate heavily, some more than others. Most of us have the belief that just because you are a Master Mason in good standing and own a motorcycle that doesn't necessarliy qualify you for membership in the Widows Sons. To be a Widows Son you should display a level of dedication that many other Masonic clubs, organizations, or associations don't necessarily require. We kick it up a notch, if you will. We ride together, eat together, drink together, camp together, and support one another always. As far as I'm concerned, and most of the Brothers I run with, the Association has little use for the Brother who sports his colors once a year and considers a "run" to the local ice cream shop or Starbucks a ride. Now, some will disagree with that, but I believe it's the only way to go. Those that share in this philosophy are growing in numbers and the Brotherhood is strong. Those that don't, well it's apparent to the rest of us.

Now, if you feel like you are interested in that sort of Brotherhood, as Stonecutter said Canada is growing. I'm sure one of the existing Chapter would take you in. I know that in some of the Canadian Chapters members are spread out quite a bit because of the sheer size of the country. I'm sure there are Brothers that would help you along if you want to go that route.

Thunder, Blkcycle here in Manitoba, it takes about 3-6 months to form a chapter, and well worth it. You want to make sure you like who you ride with or it is a waste of time. The Manitoba chapter started the same way you get into a lodge someone sponsors you. None of the members brought in anyone they did not feel would be in harmony with the group, and we have moulded together with an unbelievable bond. So get to work I'm sure there are a dozen or so MM's that ride bike, and start a chapter. you will get support from the other Canadian Grand Chapters who have dealt with their Grand Lodges and got the go ahead. In Canada there will be two types of Grand Lodges, those that have a Widows Sons Grand Chapter, and those that want one. Your a little too far for us to ride out and help, (we are helping Saskachewan who should be all formed by next month) but your only a email away.
