Wisdom

From a early age we are taught to seek Wisdom, for it is the staff of Life. It shall keep us upright and steadfast through all the trials and tribulations this world has to offer. With Wisdom, we learn not to lean to our own understanding and suffer not from our passion's.

WS Finland To Ride Historic Route 66

Thursday, October 20, 2011 - Posted by Stonecutter, in WSMRA News

On September 25th 2011, 2 brothers from the Widows Sons in Finland arrived in Chicago in order to scout a trip our brothers have planned next fall in 2012. Brother's Hannu & Teijo arranged to rent 2 Harley Davidson Road Kings from a local dealer and were able to take a ride from Chicago up to Green Bay in Wisconsin before returning to Finland.

I had a chance to meet with them and their plan is to return to the USA in September 2012 with 6-8 Finnish brethren in order to spend 3 weeks on the road to ride Historic Route 66 from Chicago to L.A. They asked for advice on their route and whether they would have time to see many of the sights & attractions along the way. The ride will originate in Chicago and the brethren will end the trip in L.A where they will fly back to Finland. While going over the map I showed them spots along the way where they would pass relatively close to Widows Sons chapters. We have a few local brethren who have expressed an interest in riding along with them on the trip (myself included).

English is taught as a 3rd language in Finland and the brethren speak it fluently, so communication was not a problem. The brothers were extremely good-natured & personable. It was a pleasure to be able to meet with them for a few hours. We look forward to their return next year and an update will be posted here prior to their return trip. Hopefully we can get many of our WS brethren to meet with them along the way. They asked if we had a WS secret handshake or word (which they do in Finland) and I had to chuckle. I told them about our Widows Sons Degree and they expressed a lot of interest in it. Hopefully we'll be able to accommodate them with that at some point along their route? Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas?

Anyway, this is just the first head's-up on their visitation. We'll keep everyone informed as the time for their trip gets closer.

Fraternal regards,

~Stonecutter~

We are happy to announce the addition of 2 new Grand Chapters into the WSMRA. The Grand Chapter of Wyoming was chartered a few months ago and has been sponsored into the Association by the Grand Chapter of Montana. Our newest addition is the Grand Chapter of Mexico which has been sponsored by the Widows Sons-State of California.

New Zealand is currently working on becoming approved and Australia has also submitted a recent request for a Grand Chapter. We wish our brethren Down Under the best of luck and look forward to having you join us.

Keep the rubber side down & the shiny side up!

Fraternally Yours,

Welcome to the WSMRA Communications Center!

Saturday, October 15, 2011 - Posted by Stonecutter, in WSMRA News

Welcome Brethren!
This is a new feature which we have added to our communication tools which we hope our members will find useful. The Newspad feature is integrated with our International Forums but is also available here as a stand-alone feature. It allows our members to send out eNewsletters and post blogs. Visitors may easily subscribe to or sign-up for the various eNewsletters & blogs which will be appearing here.

Additionally, we are making this communications tool available to you our members and our chapters who would like to create an eNewsletter or blog of your own. Some of the ways this could be used would be to send out news or announcements about events, rallies, scheduled rides, charity events, and so on. With your blogs you can write about anything new and exciting going on in your area or chapter, recap highlights from recent events, post pictures, or files such as flyers or registration forms for any upcoming events you may have planned. How you utilize your blogs & eNewsletters is only limited by your imagination.

Any chapters or members who are interested in obtaining your own blog or eNewsletter should send a Private Message or PM to any of our Admin's or Wardens on the International Forums. All we need is for you to provide us with a User ID & password, and whether you would like an eNewsletter, blog, or both. Naturally, this service is free to all members of the WSMRA.

Fraternally Yours,
~ The International Forums Team~

The forums have reopened!

Monday, October 10, 2011 - Posted by stonecutter

We are pleased to announce that the Forums are now open after a period of maintenance & retooling. A few changes were made so we could start fresh with a more friendly and brotherly atmosphere. A major portion of our old posts and topics have been archived, some new sections were added, and our staff is determined to help maintain a polite and orderly environment.

It has always been the goal & intent of the Forums to afford our members a means to communicate their events, tell news about new chapters and positive things going on throughout the Association, and build fellowship among our members. We're sorry that on occasion there were periods of drama and political soapboxing. Sometimes to the point where we acquired a reputation for being hostile and unbrotherly. This was not our intent and we are going to work hard to see that the past will not repeat itself.

It is in this spirit that we ask all of our members to help us accomplish this by helping to promote a dignified and friendly venue by keeping things positive and upbeat. Our organization is still growing beyond our expectations, and we have a lot to be proud of. Like anything in life, there are always new challenges to face and there is always room for improvement. But instead of focusing on the few negatives scattered about, let's take the "glass is half full" approach and keep our eyes and hearts focused on what really matters.....
Riding with your brethren, engaging in fellowship, making new friends, and having fun as a member of our great fraternity.

The Forum addresses are still the same. http://international.widowssons.com and http://forum.widowssons.com
Everyone is welcome to stop in for a visit!

~The Forum Staff~
